Greater Anglia

In 2012 Abellio began operating the Greater Anglia (GA) rail franchise. The franchise operates the overground rail network across the Greater Anglia area, mainly running from London’s Liverpool Street to Stratford, Stansted Airport, Cambridge, Norwich, Colchester, Ipswich and Southend. Carlisle is the partner of choice in providing a range of cleaning services across the network.

Our Involvement

Carlisle has worked in partnership with Greater Anglia since 2012. Our relationship has developed and diversified over the years, with Carlisle being awarded additional contracts to provide an ever-increasing range or services across their rail network. Today, we undertake their daily station cleans, periodic and deep cleaning services across the entire network. We deploy over 70 operational staff supported by 7 managerial and supervisory staff delivering over 2200 hours of cleaning services weekly.

Our service includes a number of specialist tasks and projects which include:
• Copper cleaning
• Pressure washing
• Steam Cleaning
• High level Cleaning
• Deep Cleaning
• Install of bird control measures
• Fly tipping removal
• Window cleaning
• Track litter picking
• Waste removal
• Abandoned bike removal
• Bio-waste removal from tracks.

“In our opinion, Carlisle has consistently achieved positive results for
Greater Anglia along with recognition from our senior management.”

Tony Harford – HSQ Manager, Greater Anglia

Our Team

At our awards evening in 2019, the GA team picked up two awards. One for Team of the Year for their efforts on the contract and great feedback we receive from the client. The other was for our Customers at the Heart Superstar winner, Maggie McLeish, as described below.

Maggie McLeish was our Superstar Winner for her excellent work on the GA contract. Maggie is a valued member of our team. She is a compassionate, friendly and responsible individual who shows absolute dedication. She offers additional cleaning services, despite having completed her scheduled two hours, ensuring that every area of the station is clean, tidy and welcoming. Maggie works tirelessly, often going above and beyond the call of duty, and is always willing to take on additional responsibilities. As a self-initiator, Maggie on occasion will identify faults such as a leaking kettle and a corroded leaking water pipe and will bring this to our attention in order to rectify.
