Tobacco Dock

Tobacco Dock was built in 1812 as a bustling hub for luxury commodities from the New World. Sensitively and ambitiously restored in 2012, Tobacco Dock has sealed its reputation as one of the coolest events spaces in the capital. The Grade 1 listed building is a masterpiece of industrial architecture and an icon of the East London landscape. With 57 flexible event spaces over 16,000 m2, they can provide the perfect space for any sized event.

Our involvement

On 1st June 2019 Carlisle won the events stewarding and security tender to support Tobacco Dock. The venue includes a Skylight Rooftop Public Bar, which is open Thursday to Sunday evenings during the summer months. This relationship will be developed across a five year deal, supplying Event Security to clients such as BBC, Facebook, YouTube and Taste of London.

Key Stats:

  • Full complement of staff ranging from 15 security personnel up to 80 staff, including stewards for major events with dedicated supervisors and contract management
  • The venue holds up to four events per week
  • Visitors numbers vary from 100 up to 8500 people and can include full body searches
  • All staff were newly recruited or sourced from our existing London talent pool.

Contract Performance

The contract see’s Carlisle deliver dedicated event security experts, focussing on the importance of site familiarity and training with the highest standard of presentation. Although still in its infancy, we have provided security for a number of events including most recently the Meatopia Food Festival as pictured, above.

“This is another iconic events venue for our London team to support. Our Corporate Event Security teams will complement the wide variety of events held at Tobacco Dock and allow us to grow on our training and development goals, alongside the introduction of new technology to help deliver better event security“
