HR Advisor

Salary - up to £30,000 (depending on experience)

Hours : 40 per week

Location : Head Office, Capability Green, Luton

Job Role

The role of the HR Advisor is to provide employee focused, responsive, accurate and pragmatic HR solutions and support to managers, employees and flexible employees in-line with company policies, internal procedures and strategic goals.

As a generalist HR Advisor you will be responsible for the effective management of a small case load in addition to engagement, well-being and recruitment projects across the business.

  • To act as an "ambassador" of the company, working in line with Carlisle values
  • To understand the Carlisle contracts and their unique operational requirements
  • To promote a culture of trust and positivity within the HR Operations Team
  • To support team and department meetings, adding items to the agenda and taking responsibility for actions
  • To work with colleagues across the department and group to promote a joined up approach that adds value to the business
  • To develop and maintain strong relationships within the business
  • To share information with colleagues and build knowledge within the department through regular meetings, updates and briefings on legislative and process changes
  • To manage around 25% of the ER case log, to include disciplinary, grievances, redundancy, flexible working, TUPE and settlement agreements in line with agreed guidelines and company policy
  • To be the point of contact for HR related employee queries which are not case related, including management of the CSSInfo mailbox
  • To conduct regular site visits, with a focus on our top 25 contracts, with a view to assess the engagement of the employees on the contract, identify and address issues and solutions related to employee engagement, complete Visit-IT forms and support the Contract Manager with any HR / recruitment issues and
  • To actively promote our Well-being strategy and participate in monthly calls with the internal well-being team, taking action where necessary to ensure that our employees are working in a culture of "openness" within their teams
  • To take ownership of service recognition within the Company, including contacting employees who reach service milestones, preparing their certificates and liaising with management to present their awards
  • To prepare and send out a Company-wide Employee Survey twice yearly to all employees, collate responses and liaise with Contract Managers to develop action plans for improvement
  • To become our Insight system champion by attending meetings, participating in demo's and becoming an expert on system functionality
  • To support the recruitment of our salaried workforce including but not limited to actioning vacancy / offer requests from senior management, Thomas International tests and interview support where necessary
  • To facilitate quarterly EMT meetings along with the Group Training Manager by putting together the agenda, attending and running the meetings, compiling meeting notes & next steps and communicating feedback to the wider business
  • To adhere to agreed service level agreements with the business and Head of HR Operations
  • To work on ad hoc projects and tasks when required to meet the demands of the business
  • To provide support to the Head of HR Operations as required

Skills & Experience

  • Maths and English at GCSE grade C equivalent
  • Previous experience in an HR Advisor or equivalent people orientated role
  • Experience interacting and building excellent working relationships with all levels of management and across organisational lines
  • Excellent influencing, leadership, communication skills to enable consistent approaches
  • Ability to recognise different manager types and styles and adjust approach accordingly
  • Good understanding of key employment legislation / best practice, and a desire to increase knowledge in this area
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to anticipate problems and resolve issues using own initiative
  • A good understanding of HR systems

Desirable:

  • Experience working with detailed information and numerical data and presenting it in a way that is easily understood by people at different levels in the company
  • Customer service in a fast paced environment
  • CIPD qualified or working towards
  • Experience of working in the facilities management industry
