What you'll do:

The Group Sales Director will play a key role defining customer and channel strategy, taking overall responsibility for delivering the annual new business and contract operating profit targets agreed with the board, providing strong leadership, project management skills and commercial expertise.

You will be responsible for growing the strategic customer base for our security, events, cleaning, and retail business entities, generating new opportunities, and increasing profitable revenues. You will be an innovative thinker and able to create solutions to offer a tailored approach to prospective customers, building sustainable and comprehensive pre-tender relationships.

This role offers a remote working option and opportunity to work in partnership with market-leading brands and partners within the support services and facilities industry. Due to the seniority of this role, and close working relationships with the Senior Management Team, we would expect regular in-person attendance to our Luton based Head Office.

The role will also support the wider development and implementation of distinctive Marketing and Business Development plans to support strategic business objectives. This will include customer attraction and retention strategies to drive revenue, margin, service levels and profitability.

Your Essential Responsibilities will involve successful delivery across a number of core elements:

  • Lead upon the development and delivery of new business growth strategies, policies, and procedures for each business entity
  • Project manage all identified opportunities - leading, designing and delivering customer solutions throughout the complete tender cycle, including the preparation and submission of financial models for new opportunities
  • Develop strategic analysis 'blue sheets' for key prospect customers identifying bid objectives, competitor analysis, buying influences, and ongoing actions and stakeholders' involvement
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with the senior management, operations, bid management and supporting stakeholders at all levels
  • Develop pre-tender key business relationships with influential business contacts within the customers decision-making unit
  • Design and execute a growth driven marketing plan and budget that shows long-term penetration of specific target customers and markets
  • Communicate the organisation's value propositions and processes through customer facing responses and presentations
  • Develop and implement plans to meet commercial objectives through existing and new routes to market
  • Raise the profile of Carlisle internally and externally, through effective networking and attendance to relevant industry and corporate functions
  • Gather and report market intelligence on competitors, customers, and relevant industries
  • Use Salesforce CRM system to maintain organisation and transparency with wider stakeholders
  • Ensure a smooth and effective handover of new contract wins to appropriate operational managers and mobilisation teams
  • Maintain extensive self-development and training of industry leading business development techniques, methodology and practices
  • Interim line management of Marketing Manager, in place to develop, own, implement, and measure online and offline marketing plans that help meet strategic objectives.

What you'll need to bring:

This is a strategic role so you'll need to hit the ground running, but you'll be supported by a great team and a wider group of colleagues who will help you to deliver exceptional results

  • Extensive business development background with experience of selling labour resource contracts and winning new business across multiple service lines and sectors
  • Ability to compile tender responses and submissions by writing new informative and creative content
  • Prior experience of preparing, briefing, and organising all customer-facing interactions
  • Demonstrable experience of capturing customer requirements and understanding market needs via market intelligence, market forces, competitor analysis and developing new market segments
  • Outstanding persuasion and presentation skills
  • Commercial and entrepreneurial persona, able to identify new opportunities
  • High level of prominence and gravitas, comfortable engaging with all levels of seniority when selling or negotiating
  • Excellent written and visual communication and presentation skills
  • A strong collaborator with experience of interacting at director / board level required
  • Technical Skills
  • Experience utilising Salesforce
  • PC literate, with excellent Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft SharePoint and Teams skills
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Willingness to complete formal Business Development accredited qualifications
  • Association and/or memberships with supporting industry bodies
