We have an exciting opportunity for DS licenced Security Officers to join our team at Royal Hospital Chelsea.

We are looking for professional Visitor Security Officers to work in environment very much built on Armed Forces values. The ideal candidate will have strong understanding and awareness of site security operations, excellent communication skills and a passion for helping others.

The shift rotation is a 3 on, 3 off day/night pattern.

Purpose of the Role

This role is to work as part of the core team covering the main gates and patrolling the site. The main priorities are access control, booking in/out vehicles, customer service, general enquires, taking deliveries, alarm responding and patrolling the site ensuring the safety of the residents and staff on site.

The gate duties are static positions during the day, working externally in all weather elements. Patrols are carried out throughout day and nights shifts. Reporting any fault or site related issues to the security team leader

Job Role

  • Make rounds of inspection at flexible intervals and report in by means of radio or other devices.
  • Conduct welfare patrols out of hours reporting any issues back to the team leader.
  • To be alert to potential hazards; check for fire and flood; ensure all windows and doors are closed and locked. Report any serious incident (e.g. flood, fire or theft) to main gate house and the team leader.
  • Follow emergency and evacuation procedures; assist in the searching of site / buildings in accordance with set procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to CCTV and Intruder/Access alarms.
  • Prevent the admittance to the premises of unauthorised persons.
  • Report damage to perimeter fencing or other property or buildings which compromise security.
  • Remain alert and vigilant to activity on the site to ensure risks are minimised through prompt action, end to end investigation and reporting.
  • Investigate suspicious persons or vehicles immediately, report to the team leader when the situation is perceived as an emergency.
  • Investigate alarm activations as per site procedures.
  • Monitor and control access to site during emergencies.
  • Any further additional reasonable duties requested by operational management team.

  • Previous experience in a relevant role
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure
  • Ability to deliver clear verbal and written reports where necessary.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal presentation.
  • Punctual in order to ensure team effectiveness and availability
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Able to deal calmly and confidently with all demands from the public.
  • An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity in relation to visitors' needs.
