A refreshing change for Tesco Express

​​Tesco opened their first Express store in 1994 and now have over 960 stores, selling ranges of up to 7,000 products, including fresh produce, wines and spirits and in-store bakery. Carlisle was an integral part of the Tesco Express store refresh programme.


Tesco challenged Carlisle to supply a complete package providing a cost effective merchandising solution. This included a single point of contact for all elements of the project at each store refresh. This request was designed to take the pressure off in-store Tesco team members, allowing them to carry out their daily routines.


Each store refresh involves teams of highly trained merchandisers working across day and night shifts to support Tesco and its Express stores. Our complete solution includes:

We eliminated the need for Tesco to provide a project manager for every site, providing an immediate and measurable cost saving. Our dedicated teams offered a level of skills that Tesco would find hard to source from other local stores without disrupting their operations to do so.
