Chief Executive Officer
Joining Carlisle Support Services in 2015 as Managing Director, and promoted to CEO in January 2019, Paul has overseen the transformation of the business across more recent times. With a career spanning the last two decades in the facilities management sector, and having worked his way up from the front-line, he is extremely passionate about making sure our business strategy remains aligned to our employee-led and customer-centric values.
As CEO, Paul leads our experienced senior team at Carlisle, and we are very proud to have an enviable portfolio of many of the UK’s leading brands and organisations. An operational and commercially focused leader, Paul ensures that Carlisle continues to deliver on their commitment to being the industry’s ‘most trusted partner’, which it does by being completely transparent and honest in all that it does.
Michael Shirt was appointed as Finance Director of Carlisle in 2015 and has overseen the Finance, HR, Legal and support functions of the business during a period of rapid organic growth. He lead the demerger of Carlisle companies from the Impellam Group in March 2019.
Michael has over 25 years’ experience as an accountant prior to joining Carlisle and started his career in private practice before progressing to roles with ACI Worldwide (banking software) and GE’s Healthcare division. He has worked in the FM services sector for over 15 years.
Head of Marketing and Business Development
Nicole joined Carlisle Support Services in 2016 and is responsible for the overall management of all strategic and operational Marketing and Business Development activities. With a true passion for communicating our company mission, vision, and values, she oversees the creation and delivery of our internal and external communication and digital strategies.
To allow the bid management function to deliver, Nicole provides leadership and guidance to internal stakeholders on best practices, implementation and strategy bid development.
Director of Operations – Security and Events North
Martin has worked for Carlisle since 2001 when he joined as part of an acquisition to grow Carlisle’s penetration into the transport sector on the cleaning and security side. He joined as a general manager and has fulfilled a number of different roles in his time within the business including Operations Director, Managing Director, Strategic Account Director and Service Development.
He has been responsible for the growth of his region over the past two decades with the additions of many blue-chip clients including Merseytravel, Liverpool CityCouncil, Liverpool Football Club, UK Supreme Court, Arriva Rail London, Abellio Greater Anglia, Manchester Metrolink, Docklands Light Railway. His transport background has led to the delivery of a number of sector-based innovations like RSAS Accreditation, Bodyworn surveillance (introduced in 2009) and Zone-IT, as well as the new FLEET (Front Line Empathy and Enforcement Training) package.
Martin has also developed a number of service development initiatives to enhance frontline competence and operational efficiency including RSAS and CSAS Accreditation, Mental Health First Aid and Wellbeing Strategy and the NFC based Zone-IT which delivers colour coded compliance to the rail sectors LANDSEC regimes.
Director of Operations – Security and Events South
Adrian has been involved in the support services sector for over 20 years, where he has built and sustained market-leading businesses in the outsourced services sector. The key focus he maintains is to see things through the eyes of the customer and front-line employees. Adrian is responsible for our Security and Events South division and has full profit and loss responsibility. He has vast experience working with a wide range of blue-chip clients and has experience across a range of sectors and service lines. Having started his career on the shop floor within the retail sector, Adrian has a natural affinity with our front-line employees and ensures he spends dedicated time with his teams.
In his spare time, Adrian is also Chair of a Multi Academy Trust and trustee of a local charity supporting children to complete sporting activities.
Director of Operations – Cleaning, Industrial & Retail Services
Chris is responsible for leading and developing the operational capability across the Cleaning, Industrial and Retail divisions, as well as the creation and implementation of its operating strategy.
Joining Carlisle Support Services in 2015, Chris has served in multiple operational roles, including the management of one of our largest transport contracts. He was later recognised as our Contract Manager of the Year in 2016.
Chris was appointed to his current role in 2017 and has moved the division’s performance and reputation forward significantly. Furthermore, his divisional portfolio has produced the Contract of the Year, Employee of the Year and Contract Manager of the Year in both 2018 and 2019.
He brings strong business and operational leadership, business development and wide-ranging experience of people management to the role. Chris also represented Carlisle as the keynote speaker for the Living Wage Foundation at the 2019 Cleaning Show.
HSQE & Support Services Director
Paul has worked for Carlisle for over 17 years in various senior management roles both operational and back office.
As Head of HSQE Paul is responsible for managing all of our internal management systems such as ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. This involves managing all internal and external audits, accreditations and ensuring that the business complies with all statutory and legal obligations including compliance with the Private Security Industry Act 2001. Paul also heads up our Training and the Support Centre functions and has driven our H&S Culture and Operational Excellence programmes throughout the business.
Our cleaning teams can be found in shops, offices, hotels, trains and trams. No matter where we clean, whether it’s train carriages, arenas or stations, the customer is at the heart of everything we do.
Our security teams work in both the public and private sectors across a full range of business sectors. Our service extend from corporate security services to bespoke complex solutions.
In the world of sport, entertainment and one-off events we specialise in the provision of personnel, management consultancy and hospitality services that we deliver to millions of people every year.
Carlisle is the UK’s largest outsourced merchandiser. Our retail support and interiors teams work with some of the biggest names on the high street installing seasonal and promotional displays.
