The legislative framework for the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 has been established, but the true challenge lies in evolving from a theoretical understanding of statutory guidance to the reality of ground-level protection. Over 400 industry leaders joined us on Thursday, 7th May, for a critical deep-dive webinar led by Nick Aldworth into the operational mechanics of the Act. Nick has a distinct history with Martyn’s Law, having co-authored the original white paper upon which the new law is based, with Public Safety Campaigner and Martyn’s mother, Figen Murray. Now, as our Managing Director of Counter-Terrorism, Intelligence and Risk, Nick is best placed to move us all beyond the heavy legal terminology with his guidance on breaking down the legislative ‘musts’ and ‘shoulds’ into a clear and actionable roadmap for 2026.
This session provided the clarity we needed to navigate an enormous legislative shift and the nuances of our responsibility.
We also explored how a premises’ scope can shift overnight based on physical changes to a site and discussed the vital importance of documenting the ‘why’ behind your security decisions.
