After 12 exciting weeks this summer, the Short Tail Trail has closed its doors to the general public. With 90 Hares and Tortoises placed around Luton town, Stockwood Park and Wardown Park, the trail has brought together the community to explore their local areas with three free walking trails as individuals collect each of the sculptures.
Wonderland, our Hare was created by the talented Loïs Cordelia, a versatile speed painter who completed our Alice in Wonderland-themed sculpture within a few days. Including inspiration from Luton’s hatmaking heritage and Alice in Wonderland, the sculpture features incredible fairytale details. After seeing this Hare in the wild, it is no surprise that Wonderland concluded the twelve weeks of the trail as the most collected of all 90 sculptures with 771 collections and voted fourth highest rated from the 90 with 56 votes.
After much anticipation, Carlisle can also announce that the winner of our Short Tail Trail competition has been selected and contacted, with our winner receiving a Short Tail Trail-themed prize at Woburn Safari Park. This prize includes a 90-minute Safari Off Road Adventure experience with an experienced ranger for up to four people alongside park entry tickets for all four people. Inspired by this trail itself, we hope our winner Santash Freebourne enjoys the Wild experience!
Carlisle Support Services is also proud to announce the purchase of our Wonderland sculpture at the Keech Charity Auction night on 3rd October, with Wonderland’s new home to be placed within the home of our HQ at Capability Green Business Park in Luton as a reminder of the trail. Keep an eye out over the next few weeks when in the area to see where Wonderland is placed within the business park.
Thank you to all who visited Wonderland when out on the trail and to all who have supported Keech in their fundraising efforts.
