Held at the iconic, world-renowned international exhibition and convention centre, Excel London, this year’s Innovation Lab welcomed over 600 attendees, 56 exhibitors, four headline speaker sessions and five industry expert speaker sessions hosted on our Lab Stage, making this our largest event yet.
This year’s event had a clear emphasis on sustainability, AI, robotics, and complementary technologies designed to enhance people-based operations. For the first time, the event was pleased to introduce a dedicated sustainability partner, Neutral Carbon Zone, who helped us to organise and measure our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, allowing the event to be classified as Carbon Neutral. Neutral Carbon Zone CEO, Alan Stenson joined Carlisle CEO Paul Evans during the final speech to present CSS with this certificate in celebration of the event’s status as a Carbon Neutral event. This assessment was aligned with international standards, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the event’s environmental impact across all aspects of operations.
The Innovation Lab provides organisations and professionals with an annual opportunity to meet with other key industry leaders, interact with our exhibitors’ latest innovations, along with remaining ahead of market developments and technological advancements.
Exhibitors provided our delegates with the opportunity to test out cleaning machinery, body cameras, AI Video analytics, body armour technology, security systems, radios and much more to enrich our delegates’ working lives.
Our impressive main stage hosted four headline speaking sessions, which kicked off with Tracey Follows, who discussed with our delegates about the future of AI within businesses, how organisations can utilise AI and how this may be utilised in the future for the benefit of businesses.
Taking to the stage after lunch, we had the Challenge Innovation presentations, which provided our five finalists to take to the stage to present their idea to our panel of judges and our audience in the hopes of garnering some of the £50,000 investment opportunity within their chosen idea.
Our third session brought the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management, Jenny Thomas together with our Southbank Events Security Manager, Ruth Ripley, to the stage to discuss how to deliver strategies which will reduce environmental impact and drive responsible business practices.
Rounding off the day, our final speaker, James Taylor took to the stage to discuss Ethical Futurism and provided our delegates with a guide on how to navigate environmental and social issues in line with the practices of the world’s most ethical and sustainable companies to drive business success.
The Lab Stage welcomed expert speakers from a host of industry leaders from Neutral Carbon Zone, Inploi, Clientshare, Merseyrail, Perpetuity Research, Southbank Centre, Expressions Partnership, and Security Industry Authority (SIA). Sessions included updates from the SIA, discussions on how to deliver world-class customer service, a talk on how to provide value and efficiencies for clients within partnership opportunities and rounding off with a session on how to introduce the next generation into Cleaning and FM.
Throughout the Innovation Lab and Superstar Awards Ceremony, delegates were invited to take part in a charity raffle to raise money for Mind, a mental health charity that provides support to those who are suffering from mental health problems and their loved ones to encourage better health in communities. With the help of those involved, we were able to raise a total of £1649 throughout the day and evening.
Finally, we would like to thank all of the exhibitors, delegates and staff members at Excel London who helped to make this event yet another huge success. Registrations for next year’s event will be available soon so keep an eye out on our dedicated Innovation Lab website to be the first to know when next year’s event will be taking place.
